Validation Of Program AXTURB Predictions Against Experimental Data

This is a research turbine stage experiment reported by the Technical University of Hannover. Mass flow and efficiency data are provided for two equivalent speeds. It is a free-vortex design with a pitch line reaction of 50%, resulting in a highly twisted rotor blade.

This is a single-stage turbine designed and tested by the Allison Division of General Motors for the NASA Lewis Research Center. The scatter in the efficiency data is substantial, so an efficiency curve estimated by Allison is included for reference. Designed to evaluate advanced loading concepts, it features substantial suction-surface diffusion and negative reaction (NASA CR-735 and NASA CR-1172).
